A microscopic approach for trimming a bulging disk (or herniated disk, ruptured disk, slipped disk) causing nerve compression has a high success rate (>90% when done for the proper reasons). A small incision, using a microscope to trim the disk, generally requires about 30 minutes and results in a quick recovery (with most patients going home either the same or next day).
